A journey through life’s cycles in paper cutting, where the past connects to the present through motion, light, and memory.
Time moves in rhythm, advancing through repetition and returning in waves.
This exhibition takes the Running Horse Lantern (走馬燈) as a conceptual point of departure, using the image of the horse in motion as a way to reflect on time and life. Traditionally, the running horse lantern creates a sense of movement through a sequence of images, allowing still forms to suggest the passage of time. It does not appear just as a physical object, but also as a structural idea that shapes the rhythm and progression of the works.
The exhibition unfolds through a series of works that follow the horse through changing states, corresponding to experiences shared across a lifetime: birth, aging, illness, and passing. These are not treated as linear endpoints, but as conditions that recur and overlap. The movement of the horse becomes a reflection of time in motion, and of life's rhythm carried across generations.

As light flows through the works, it shapes the experience of time and the continuity of culture. It emerges in layers, negative space, and the rhythm of viewing, allowing tradition to be sensed rather than declared. Transmission here is not replication, but a living process shaped by change, through which continuity endures.
As viewers move through the exhibition, time is no longer only a setting. It becomes a presence. In a moment of reflection, one may look back at one’s own place and recognize what the poem describes: “After searching for them a thousand times in the crowd, I turn my head, and there they are, where the lights grow dim.” That “person” is both another and oneself, reminding us that we are each part of time and part of inheritance.
