An on-site activation developed in collaboration with ZO and Welcome to Chinatown in celebration of the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival. Centered on community engagement, the project brought together traditional cultural practices and contemporary participatory design.
The activation combined the symbolic significance of lantern-making, representing reunion, hope, and good fortune, with elements of calligraphy and paper-cutting. Participants were guided to thoughtfully curate their own lanterns, using handcrafted forms and written language to articulate and manifest personal wishes.
By integrating these traditional art forms into an interactive setting, the project emphasized intentionality within the creative process. Each lantern became a composed expression; balancing material, form, and meaning. While contributing to a larger collective atmosphere shaped through shared participation.
